The church of Christ the Consoler in Skelton-on-Ure, North Yorkshire was commissioned in 1870 as a memorial to Frederick Vyner, who was killed by brigands while on grand-tour in Greece.
Architect William Burges employed the best craftsmen of the day to work here, and everywhere you look you’ll find examples of their skill. Pattern and colour cover every surface, including stained glass, fine marble and gilded mosaics.
This church is supported locally by the Friends of Christ the Consoler, who are currently fundraising to reinstate the organ to fill this church with music, life and community once again.
